Facebook is growing to 500 million users and Disney is capitalizing on that.  Many Facebook users like to stay on the site so Disney is demonstrating how a FB user can buy a movie ticket and at the same time invite have you invite your friends to come along.

How a travel agent can save money by going paperless and look still look professional

Happy Sunday Everyone,

Just finished reading a good article on how small businessess can save money from Mashable.

  •  Go paperless
  • for a trave agency, use the online programs where you can personalize your information for a cruise ship or destination and then email it off to your clients.  For example, look at Cruising Power and the “My Marketing Tools” section. You even get a personalized URL.  All of the docs will have your travel agency information.  Post the destination to your FB business page
  • Use an online journal tool, such as the  iZento, share the journal with your clients before printing.  Use the Online journal to build business through FB.  Use the iZento journal to share with a group or on your business page.  The journal flips pages, just like in a book.  It has 300+ cities and cruise ships with remarkable details for each place.

YAPTA -for tracking Air Fares and refunds too

There is a new tool in town.  Thanks to Lyell better known as 93Octane, one of my FB buddies, he shared a fare tracking tool that will do multiple flight and hotel tracking.  The application is called YAPTA and it is powered by Kayak.  Go to  YAPTA to get started.

I just spent some time with the program and this is what I found out:

  • Multiple trip tracking tool -including price drops
  • If price drops of a trip you are tracking, Yata will send you an email to alert you
  • If you already purchased your ticket or hotel room, Yapta has a connection that can help you  work on getting a refund
  • You can see fare charts of the the best days of the month to travel

I already have trips plugged into the application and I am interested to see how it all comes together.

Thanks Lyell.  You can follow all his wisdom on Twitter, 93Octane.

It’s the little things that matter

Recently my husband had to take a limo to the airport which he does from time to time.  The company he always uses was too busy to take him to the airport, so he found a different company that was owned by an individual.  This what my husband said,  and I paraphrase here, I am going to start using this new company because,  the music in the car that was playing was low, the owner had fresh cold bottles of water, gum and mints for his guests.

This got thinking, can it be that simple.  And you may ask, what is so simple?  The answer is respect. The driver know what the needs of his clients are and takes it one step beyond.  He realizes the travel weary traveler may want, room to stretch, soft quiet music, a cold bottle of water and some mints.

What are we doing to go beyond what other travel agents are doing to “GET and KEEP” the client?  It may be only a few simple items that may keep the client or send them to someone else.
