Create a FB Welcome Tab for Free

Hope your week is off to a great start, and now it will get even better! Why? Because this week I am here to save you money.

How? By showing you to how to create your own Welcome Tab on your Facebook Business Page!

“Creating a FaceBook Welcome Tab for FREE”

You might be asking what is a Welcome Tab? Well, it is the page where a potential “like” and eventual client would land on first on your Facebook Business Page before going to your Wall. Your wall contains chatter, which is good, but your Welcome Tab gives a clear picture of your business. It WELCOMES and invites viewers to “like” your page.

Why is it so important? It is your chance to make a great first impression, to share what is unique about your business, and to help solidify your brand.

If you are a home based agent and on a budget (and who isn’t on a budget these days?), then this application is a great place to begin.

I like the Static HTML – IFrames Tab because it does not display advertisements like some of the other pages that are available to you, if you accept their “free” version. If you have a little cash to spend and you want to make your page even more outstanding, check out the FanPage Engine. Their link is on my blog.

Please note that the example I created in the video was a rough draft. Definitely, it is not for display yet! My intention was to show you the steps, so it is over simplified. When I create a .jpeg image, the image is created in Photoshop and eventually it is saved as a .jpeg image.

I’d love to see how you are doing with the application. Please drop me a line and a link to your welcome page. Additionally, if you have any other applications that you wish to share, please share with all of us on the Click of the Mouse FB Fan page and Blog.

Until next time, I will see you on Facebook and Google+.

PassPort Online -learning more

Hi All,

I have not been around for awhile been working on projects for clients. I am sorry it took me so long to get back intouch.  But I am here if you are still listening….

As of late, I have been working with a client in deciding what type of website to create for her business.  As you know I love WordPress but I have been trying out Passport Online and I love the features that come with it.  If you are a Nexion or Vacation.com member, you can pull in the the preferred suppliers and specials. Then  have them right on your home page, such as Vacation.com vignettes.

Another neat item is you can use your customized banner that you had a web designer create for you or use one of their many templates to create your own unique banner.

Well, I am going to end for now because I am working on my client’s site and  it is so exciting to see all the neat things we can do .  I will keep you posted…  If you decide to try Passport Online, here is the link http://passportonlineinc.com/.  Let Cynthia know I sent you .:)  Thank you.

Till next time,

Denise

Fan Page or not, that is the Question…

We all have been hearing for the last few years how we all need a Facebook Fanpage.  I am considering whether or not that is so important.  Why, you may ask?  Well as a Home-Based Agent, your work is to provide the best service in working with your travel clients.  If you are spending hours updating and creating a FB Fanpage, where is the time for you to do your “real” job?  I am not saying you should not be connecting with your clients; you should by all the means possible.  But ask yourself the following:  Is your website update?  In my opinion, this is your first line of communication on the web.

Are you connecting on social networks through your personal pages?  As a Home-Based Agents, many of your clients come through your personal connections, are you keeping up with your friends and family? Are you letting your friends and family know you are the go to person for travel.  Update with great photos, captions and video to gain exposure.  Use tools such as iZento to post the itineraries in a polished, professional manner.

Have you joined groups on your social networks sites where you can shine as an expert?

Before you leap into creating a business page on any social network site, make sure you have the time to devote to creating and continually updating.  Consider you will need to get information from third party resources as you will need information to fill on the days you do not have time to write.  Not to mention, there is a lot of great information that you can obtain from other sites.  My only problem with some of the third party information is that you may be promoting another travel company.  So make sure you are comfortable with doing so.

These are all decisions you need to make (IMO) before you LEAP forward with a  FB Fanpage.

Social Media…confusing…stay the course

Hi All,

How is everyone doing with all the new Facebook changes.  I have to admit it becomes overwhelming sometimes.  Try to stay the course incorporating social media where you need it.

How do you know where you need it?

Ask yourself, what is your goal with all of this social media stuff?

Is it to bring awareness to who you are? Your niche? Your expertise?  I know what you are thinking ( I have ESP) you want more sales, right? Well, social media networking first works with getting to know you and your clients. Then moves on to building trust.  It is not being bombarded with advertisements, we get that already in so many other places.  Of course, we want to know the great specials you have  but we also want to know, why that particular destination is good and why you are recommending it.  First hand local knowledge is always important because you sell what you know.  That is why I cannot recommend more highly taking FAMs on cruise ships and to destinations.  if you have the knowledge of the local area you can impart that to your clients through one to one conversations, blogs and social media networks.  So as you can see, it is pretty simple, talk, discuss and share what you know about and don’t get totally hung up on all the newest and the greatest technologies, unless you are like me and you love learning and playing with new gadgets. :)

Check out OSSN’s  and NACTA’s sites  for upcoming FAM’s, what I like about the forementioned associations is you can usually book further out than with the cruise lines so you can actually make plans.

Talk to you soon.

Facebook Business -gets a makeover

Hi All,

Did you ever want to change your type of business, now you can with the new FB Business Page?  The New FB Biz page can be previewed now but will become permanent on March 10th.  So you should begin to play with it to get a feel of what you can do and not do.

  • Your information box on the left hand side will no longer be on the page. Use your Basic information area to promote your business
  • A row of pictures will be at the top, you can edit them, too. Click on picture, once and X appears to remove image.
  • Now you can update, not only as a person on your personal wall but as your business, how cool is that?
  • You can have featured likes on your left hand side of your page.
  • Featured administrators too
  • On right hand side, click on view as administrator, to view your insights.  See where your likes are coming in from the internet. What day were your post up.  And what posts have your visitors been viewing.  There is a wealth of knowledge there.

More to come… stay tuned

Allure of the Seas -using Animoto for animation

Hi Everyone,

Created a video using Animoto application.  It works well, although I had to buy the upgraded pack.  Very easy to use program and lots of fun  too!
