Three Tips to Grow Engagement on your FB Biz Page

1.Find out what your fans are interested in, not what you are interested in selling.

Don’t know what your clients are interested in ASK.  Write a poll question to find out. Find out where their passions lie.

2. Write easy to answer closed questions.  For instance, avoid questions like “ what did you enjoy doing during your time on your cruise”. For instance, try, “name the first thing that comes to mind when you were onboard your last cruise.”

3.  Honor your fans; they did not have to like your page.  If a fan asks a question, answer it. Part of being a fan is being able to contact you and have a conversation with you, so be there for them.

Till next time, see you on Facebook,

3 Tips for keeping your audience engaged w/ Facebook

Facebook- Share great content people will want to read.  If you do not have great content people will want to share and “like,” you are wasting your time.  Remember it is all about your potential clients- not about you.

Time of day to post: Try to limit your posts to items of real interest and spread the posts throughout the day.  Consider, what will your  “fans” andpotential clients want to read about and the time of day you are sending out the posts.  For instance, if it early in the day, should you ask a quick question that will get a quick response?  Share a travel tip during the afternoon, when your “Fan’ may a few extra minutes to take a look at your post. Early evening may be the perfect time send out a “dreamy” blog post link or a breathtaking image to keep your fans dreaming with a quick quirky quote. End the day with  fun and excitement about a travel destination.

Review and Test: Test what time of the day and which posts give you the most feedback. Check your Facebook Insights for an in-depth view.  The above scenario is an example; you should consider your demographics and your feedback and adjust schedule of posts accordingly.

Until next time, see you on Facebook,

Denise

5 Reasons your Travel Biz and Suppliers should take Pinterest Seriously

share

share

Hi All,

I know what you are thinking, oh no not another social site! x*&^%$.  Well, Pinterest is here and gaining new ground everyday.  Before I give you the 5 tips, let me explain a little about what Pinterest is – a virtual Pinboard.  I think of it as going on a virtual spa vacation, it is just so relaxing.  It allows my mind to think of all the wonderful possibilities out in this world.

Ok, Why should your business be on Pinterest?

1. Look at the demographics of the users of the site.  The average age group is 35-44 with an average income of over $100,000. 50% have children.  This is a great opportunity to develop a following of people who love to travel.  And by the way, the majority of pinners are women.  The same people that make the decision on where the family will travel to on their next vacation

2. If you are a supplier for the travel business why not have your products and destinations available to the travel professional to pin.  Make it easy for the travel agent to promote YOUR products.

3. According to  a Shareaholic study, Pinterest is leading in referral traffic to brands.  Think what that can mean for your business.

4. Pinterest Boards stand out, they are visually appealing and you do can follow a board, a person or just do your own thing.  It is easy to use.

5. The growth of the number of pinners are growing at astounding rate, why not take advantage of this opportunity.

Well, till next time, see you on Facebook and Pinterest.

Pinterest- Why it works

Pinterest –NOW

Piniterest popularity is growing in leaps an bounds especially with women.  97% of people on Pinterest are women.  And guess who books most of the travel?

The first question to answer is why is it so popular and the answer lies in my opinion, in the visual aspect, if you can dream it, it can happen from a new outfit, a great recipe to a vacation destination.  Visually stimulating images do just that, allow you to dream in color.

From my very narrow test (me), I noticed something that occurs in me when I am using Pinterest, I escape to a destination, I imagine and it is calming.  The other social sites are about connecting with other people, Pinterest is about what I want, focus is drawn away from keeping up with everyone and everything and allows me to look inward. It can be from a quote, a health tip to a good book to read and  dreaming of exotic destination.

So, now I can hear you say, great but how can that help me grow my business? Let’s look at an example.  A person sees an image of a Disney ship and pins it to their board.  The person pinning may just be beginning to formulate the idea of maybe a Disney Cruise may be nice this year. So she looks for more images by doing a search.

Now the page is full of all these beautiful and interesting Disney images.  So the Pinterst user pins a few more pins on her Disney Vacation Board.  Next, she begins to notice a trend, the same person posts many of these images.  So what, what do you think Pinterst user is going to do next?  You got it, check out the profile of the user and her boards.  If user likes what she sees may now check out the travel professional’s website, Facebook page, etc.

What goes into making a Great profile?

  • Clear, concise information about your business
  • Links to website, and other social media applications.
  • Boards that pop-out and say, you have come to the right place for answers
  • Organization of the board
  • Pins that LINK BACK to your website.

Take a look at the following board and tell me if you think it has hit its mark?  She stands apart as a Professional Travel Expert. BTW: This is only a small glimpse of the profile.

Piniterest – consider the possibilites for use in your business…

Hi All,

Many of us have been on Facebook for awhile and with the new rollout of the timeline, our profiles are getting more exciting. However, I have been working a newer social media application that I think captures emotions , visually appealing and sets the stage for sharing more items of interest.  I may be wrong here but I think women will really find great fun in using the application. BTW: who books most of the travel for the family vacations?

So why should that be important to you as a travel professional? Imagine sharing great photos of places, recipes that will evoke emotion for a particular place or cruises. Think of the possibilities!

Oh, if you need an invite,  (the app is still in beta testing) just head over to my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/clickofthemouse, I will be happy to send you one.

MORE TO COME…

Till next time see you on Facebook.

You may not be showing up on your FB Fans Newsfeeds

shareHi All,

How is your connecting going through using social media networks?

I just finished  5 week seminars on growing your business on Facebook.  It really has been enlightening.  I will share an IMPORTANT take-aways, so keep on reading.

The  Social Media Examiner’s Seminar series was quite different from last year. BTW, I recommend it highly :) .  Last year, IMO, it focused a lot on just getting setup with Facebook, while this year there was so much more on using FB to get Fans, how to engage, in-depth look at ROI and how to use the data that is collected on your FB site to target the correct information for your audience and potential clients.

Today, I would like to share one important take-away.  Facebook comes down to engagement, if you do not engage with your fans and potential fans, Facebook may not share your updates with your fans on their newsfeeds.  Even if you have a 1000 fans but you are NOT engaging, there is a good chance it will not show up on their newsfeeds.  Read the following article to see how Facebook’s EdgeRank views how your posts make it  or not make it to the newsfeed. It has three components, an affinity score, weight, and time decay factors.

Affinity = between user and creator

Weight= is it a like, or a comment.  A comment probably has more weight than a like

Time Decay = older the edge, the less important it becomes

You multiply the above three factors for your edge, the higher your edgerank the more likely it will appear on your newsfeed.

Basically, it comes down to ENGAGEMENT, how often, with whom.  So send out posts that your readers will want to to share.

That is it for now.

Take care and see you on Facebook.

Denise
