Share images that Excite

Chillin' at the beach

Chillin’ at the beach

Share only information that excites the senses, that is highly enjoyable with the very best images and  will make your fans want to stop a take a look. Think  of an “ahhhh” image, that catches your breath away or thought provoking post. Your fan or potential client have a very limited amount of time to take in what you have to say or look at at the image you are posting on your Facebook or preferred social site. So before you post, “Ask yourself”, would I ( me personally) take the time to answer and does the image capture my imagination for the destination? Does the image speak to me?   Remember,  if you would not take the time to answer your own post,  will your fans take the time?  If the post does have a spark that inspires, captures a readers imagination or is thought provoking,  you will surely will begin to build engagement.  Think quality over quantity when it comes to connecting with your clients and it will be a win-win for both of you.

Till next time, see you on Facebook.

4 Content Marketing Tips for Facebook

problem solver for your fansHi All,

Let’s make our Facebook social life a little easier. How you might ask. When considering what content to put in your status update box on your Facebook Business page, consider the following:

Do you know your audience?  Check your Facebook Insights and view your demographics.  Are you talking to clients in their own language because as we know teenagers, adults, luxury clients speak in different terms.

Are you posting at best time of day to reach your “likes”?  Take notice when your fans are responding.  If you notice you are not getting feedback – change the time or even the day of week to reach the “sweet spot”.  This information goes back to knowing your audience, your demographics.  For instance, teenagers optimum hours for being Facebook is from 9- 10 PM.

How many times a week are you connecting with your fans on Facebook?  Remember, if your likes are not seeing you on Facebook regularly, you may not come to mind when your fans are planning their next vacation.

Do you align yourself as the problem solver for clients?  For instance, do you share relevant information on where to go, what to do when there is a problem or how to pack for a specific destination.  It is important to do so, and don’t forget to answer any questions your “likes” may leave on your Facebook page in a timely manner.

Till next time, I will see you on Facebook.

Why create short status updates on Facebook Business Page?

linksHi All,

I received this question today on why create short updates for your Facebook Business Page and I thought this would make an excellent blog post as it is important information to understand and use.

The reason short Facebook posts are important is that most people only skim over your updates, if your update has relevant information that is important to the reader why not expound about the information in a blog post by inserting a link to the blog post in the status update.  This would be a win- win for you.

Why?

First the reader may like or comment on your post because it is short. This extends your reach on Facebook. In plain English, there is more of an opportunity for your page to be viewed.

Secondly you are providing a link to your article that is located OFF of Facebook and onto your real estate your website/blog. Once there, the reader can read the article and may begin to take a look at the rest of your website. Now the reader is getting to know a little more about you and your niche market.

Furthermore, if you have strategically placed and opt-in form on the page, your fan may share his or her email address with you, if you have created an irresistible opt-in offer.

In conclusion, use short updates to keep your clients informed and motivate your fans to click on the link to your website/blog.

Till next time, see you on Facebook!

5 tips for creating your own free stock photos

We all need photos we can use on our websites, Facebook, blogs, Pinterest and Instagram accounts. Instead of paying for the images why not create our own free stock photos we can use to promote our trips, destinations and remind people why they would want to travel. Today’s tips are for images you can take right around your home and neighborhood.

Tip 1.
Always have your smartphone and/or camera with you. Snap a few pictures as you travel throughout the day. Also it is  good practice  and because you can send a picture or two up to Instagram.
Tip 2. Think Theme: Right now we are in the holiday season. So why not take holiday photos you can use for next year’s promotions. Head to the mall with your camera in-hand and create your own stockpile of photos.
Tip 3. Think COLD: If you live in an area that gets bitter cold, snap some images of someone shoveling snow, scraping ice off their windshield, ice piling up on the top of the rearview window. Get some really cold, blustery images to share.
Tip 4: Combine snowy winter image with a warm sunny image, using a application such as snaggit or jing. Ask people through your social sites; would they rather be in the frozen tundra or basking in the warm sunlight with a tropical drink in-hand.
Tip 5: Change your perspective: take pictures that are at ground level (think crab), in the water (please note: use waterproof camera), look up, down and most of all have FUN!

Till next time see you on Facebook,

3 steps to Finding Balance in using Social Media Apps

Hi All,

At this time of year it is easy to be overwhelemed with what is going on with managing your social presence. Today, I want to cover 3 steps to finding balance in using social media apps.

But first, sorry I have not been back for a while been overwhelmed with travel work and keeping up with educating myself on social media, apps and many of the new items coming down the pike. And now we are in extremely busy time of year and it hard to keep up with everything. Hey, this sounds just like you. :)

Please take a breath and  then read on.  How many hours a week are you putting into your social media marketing?  Five to six hours should be enough to keep you going and up to speed. Block out time to begin to craft your strategy for what you want to accomplish with each social media platform.

Now on to 3 steps  for finding balance in using social media apps.

  1. Are you joining every new social platform that is coming out?  Take another breath and wait.  You do not have to be on every platform.  Consider where your clients are sharing their social time and that is where you should be.
  2. Create a calendar of what you want to promote.  Look out at least 3 -4 months and begin sharing information for the spring break.  Remember you can use the holiday season for gift buying for spring break.
  3. Use third party apps like hootsuite to post to different platforms at one time. Although the one caveat is use the Facebook scheduler, right in FB and upload your videos directly to Facebook to hopefully extend your reach on newsfeeds of your fans

Well that is it for now, take a little time for yourself and breath in slowly and enjoy the view.

Till next time, see you on Facebook,

Denise

3 Tips for Engaging with you Audience on Facebook

Hi All,

With the way things are always changing especially with regard to Facebook’s algorithm Edgerank, you always want to try to keep up with how to get your posts on newsfeeds.  Here are a 3 tips you can implement today.

1.Post content that your reader wants to read.  It is about your audience not what you are interested in sharing.  Keep the language in terms of the demographics of the reader.  If your business niche is the hip-party market your use of language will be very different from talking to the luxury market.

2. Keep your post short.  Most readers skim over posts, so keep them short and of course include a link to your blog to continue your engagement.

3.  Include a great picture, your reader may stop a little longer on your post if the image you are using entices them to want to travel to the destination you are describing.

Until next time see you on Facebook,

3 Important Tips for using Pinterest for you Travel Biz

3 Tips for using Pinterest for your travel Business

Hi All,

Pinterst  is the Corkboard  for the 21st Century.  Gone are the days gathering images from magazines, piling them up in a folder to plan your wedding, an anniversary trip or a vacation of a lifetime. You no longer need to keep piles of magazines on places to visit, that later get tossed into the recycling bin. Pinterest  helps you organize your dreams, recipes, vacation plans and whaevert evokes emotion or strikes your fancy.  On top of that Pinterest keeps it all organized, that is a dream come true. :)

So how do you use this for your travel business?

1. You have clients on Pinterest

Find out, see what they are pinning.  This gives you two opportunities. The first  great opportunity is – you get to know your clients better and you can build an even better relationship.

Secondly, if your client is pinning lots of  images, for instance,  about South African Safaris, you now have a valuable piece of information that can assist you in your next conversation with them.

find friends2.  Your clients not on Pinterest?

Invite your clients to connect with you.  All you need to do is go up to the Invite/Find Friend section and follow the steps.  You can find friends from Facebook, Yahoo, Gmail, etc. and you can also send email if you do not see them on any of your lists.   Adding a personal note, IMO, is so important, your friends do not want to feel like they are being spammed.

Celebrity Board on Pinterest

3.  Create boards that showcase your specialty,

Create boards that showcase your niche in your travel business and make sure they are the first boards your client sees when they come to your profile. Put the board right at the top of the page.  Think about when you go to the supermarket, When looking for the Peanut Butter, does the PB at eye level stand out?  Or are you bending down to the bottom shelf to check out the Peanut Butter at the bottom shelf? Product placement on the shelves makes it easier to decide what items you consider purchasing.

Hope this helps you get started in using Pinterest for your travel business.  Love to hear your feedback or suggestions on what else you would like to learn about…

Till next time, see you Facebook and Pinterest
